"SCHEDRYK" PLAYED ON SAXOPHONES IN TERNOPIL
America, Argentine, England, Germany, Ukraine: The citizens of Ternopil had an opportunity to travel these world countries by the Sax Kings saxophone quartet's music. On February 17, 2011 their concert "From Classics to Jazz" was held in Ternopil philharmony.
Masterpieces of the outstanding composers such as Purcell, Bizet, Piazzolla, Gershwin, Miller, Leontovich were played. The first part of the concert included classical melodies; the second one consisted of jazz improvisations.
Andriy Veselkovsky, the Ternopil citizen, came just to listen to jazz tunes, though he was rather amazed to hear the classical compositions performed by the saxophonists. He reassured himself that the saxophone is the instrument, which sounds great in both major and minor.
- Their performance really pleased me. "Libertango" by Piazzolla and our [Ukrainian Bell Carol] "Schedryk" sounded especially amazing! - a spectator Galyna Zeny said.
By the way, the day of the concert one couldn't get a ticket. It was a full house! The members of the quartet are the laureates of various international competitions. Two of them - Volodymyr Goisak and Oleg Zaremsky - are originally from Ternopil. They studied in the local music college. That's why the saxophone music amateurs and music college students, as well as the professors willingly came to listen to the guys.
